Mechanical Properties of Moso Bamboo Connections with External Clamp Steel Plates

The Moso bamboo, a renewable green building material used in various new buildings, have received extensive attention with the promotion of concept buildings. To explore mechanical properties bamboo connections external clamp steel plates, 16 specimens were designed by changing bolt diameters and end distances holes. Their static tension tests conducted to investigate bearing capacities failure modes different connection configurations. Based on test results, three these obtained, including shear shank, hole punching bamboo. influence holes was quantitatively analyzed. simplified model, analytical models deduced for results showed that predictive values are substantial agreement experimental results. Finally, design manufacturing suggestions recommended this connections.
